The 'Peg

I hear a lot of people say a lot of bad things about Winnipeg. It makes me wonder if they've ever spent any time here. It's a fantastic place (although this photo isn't really sellin' it).

crazy days

Despair, anger, revelation, meditation and experimentation and probably a few other things went into these sheets yesterday.

where i'm at

Staying in a spare bedroom at a friend's place in Whitehorse.

Daily art / photos will resume now that I'm settled in. I'll be animating by day, painting by night, so there will be lots to post.

camera move

The theory is I can track a camera across this and it looks like the camera is panning (rotating) from the wall to reveal the classroom. It usually works. The image is even longer than this but I'm doing the rest digitally. Then I'm going to paint it. Tonight. Stress. Flying north to Whitehorse on Tuesday and I want to get this done before then.

matskw'

matskw' - frog, in the Nuxalk language (Bella Coola)

Matsqui - the town I grew up in, which has since been amalgamated into the city of abbotsford. It used to be a lake and marsh, but it was drained in the early 1900's to access the fertile soils underneath, and to eliminate the mosquitoes that thrived there. Did I read that the First Nations people used to spend that buggy season way out on the lake, fishing, away from the skeeters? Maybe it was a dream.

In the spring, the fields still flood occasionally, and when I was younger we would drag rubber rafts down to the flats, paddling over the barbed wire fences and alongside cars that were abandoned in too-deep waters. The land remembers how it used to be.

teacher teacher teacher

I've realised that I need to try new things constantly to keep from getting bored with my artwork. I'm going to try to make a 3D model that looks just like this, including the unfinished paint strokes on the shirt.

Ready, set... GO!

teacher teacher

A Sketch for a character I'm designing and starting to model today (if all goes well).

Pub Night

Volunteered to be "Security" at the Emily Carr pub night last night. This involved chillin' at a table and drawing people and letting students buy me beer. Good DJ.

R.

A random person I drew while waiting to see Hazel perform yesterday. Later that night, we ended up hanging out with this guy and his girlfriend, and others. We played Werewolf (same as Mafia) for over four hours!

i promise

i'm starting to slack heavily now - shitty little doodles and scans from animation projects weren't the intention of this blog. however, the intention of this blog was to track my fun-drawing progress, and it's doing a good job of showing that I'm not doing it.

does that even make sense?

its 3 am, I drank coffee too late.

poses

Not much drawing yesterday - just some pose sketches for a children's drawing of a crying sasquatch.
